Thing 21 Podcasts, Smodcasts

I listened to several podcasts. All Songs Considered from National Public Radio and two different podcasts with book reviews. I think it would be fun to create a podcast from the children's department of the Loudoun County Library to the kids at an area school.

Thing 22 Audiobooks

Under my netlibrary account I searched through many interesting downloads. This time all for me.
One book I thought would be fun to listen to this Spring is the book, Letters to and From Jefferson 1819. This book of letters, tells of the many plants and trees Jefferson tried to grow on his mountaintop home in Monticello, Virginia. Because I live in a 1840 loghouse it would be fun to read about the varieties of plants that survived up on top of his mountain.

Thing 15 Web 2.0 Embracing Change and Collaboration

I think of Web 2.0 as just the very beginning of something very important in the sharing and colloboration field.

I believe Web 2.0 will become another speedway similar to the original Internet or "Information Highway". It will be built much the same way it was built before the Web existed. I see it as a tool to quickly communicate and collaborate on multijurisdictional projects. Libraries and businesses will be able to link projects, ideas or programs for larger and larger audiences.

Web 2.0 is here to stay. I can't wait to see what Web 3.0 will bring.
Web 2.1 has already arrived since I last wrote this earlier comment.
Webex has already arrived.

Thing 16 So Whats a Wiki?

The negative side ...A Wiki can be a place for people to post misinformation or almost true facts. Often each contributor is treated as an equal. It doesn't seem to matter who contributes or... their source of information. Just because hundreds of people believe something is it true? Does that make it true? I also object to the way people use it to promote their own businesses.

But, the positive side....Wikis are great for sharing little known bits of odd information about a locality, talents, programming or ideas with one another. It is also a good source for children to begin a search for information because of its simple format. But a source? Is it sharing facts or just stories? Hmmmmm! Questionable but, yes I have used a Wiki for more information.

Thing 17 Playing Around With PBWiki

I created an account and made a Sterling renovations to do list. It could be used to remind each other of upcoming events or, as a way to share branch ideas with one another.

Thing 19 Discovering Web 2.0 Tools/PageFlakes

Thing 19
Pageflakes has some nifty gadgets. I had to laugh when I put in upcoming events in Berryville, Virginia and it said... there are none!

Thing 20 YouToo Can YouTube

YouTube has a video clip to match each and every person. Several of the librarian clips are a blast.
